Being on the development side means we spend a lot of our time thinking about what goes where and how to get it all approved. Our office isn't very big, and it’s often filled with the sound of the ceiling fan and the traffic from the street downstairs. We have a lot of meetings here, mostly just sitting around a table with some tea and a bunch of maps. It’s not a flashy environment. We focus on the practicalities of turning ideas into real projects. This involves a lot of boring stuff like checking regulations and making sure the paperwork is filed correctly. We don't have a big marketing department or anyone to write fancy speeches for us. We just explain things clearly to the people we work with. The neighborhood is full of history, and we like being part of the local business community here. Development can be a slow process with a lot of waiting around for things to happen, so we have to be patient. We just try to keep everything on track as much as possible. It’s about being consistent and showing up every day to handle the next set of problems. We are just regular people trying to build something for the future of the city.
