Daivey Infrastructure Private Limited is tucked away on the first floor at 7/1A, Grant Lane. If you know Kolkata, you know Grant Lane can be a bit of a maze sometimes. We’ve been here for some time now, focusing on various infrastructure tasks. It is a busy area and the noise from the street usually drifts up to our windows. We spend our mornings going over plans and our afternoons usually involve a lot of traveling to different parts of the city. Being in the infrastructure business means there is always something unexpected happening. A shipment might be late or the weather might not cooperate, but that is just how it goes in this line of work. We don’t have a big corporate team, just a few of us making sure the projects move along as they should. The office is mostly filled with blueprints and old coffee mugs. It is a practical place. We do not bother with fancy decorations because we are usually too busy to notice them anyway. Most of our day is spent talking to contractors or checking on materials. It is hard work and it can be tiring, but it feels good to see a project actually come together after months of planning. We are just local people trying to do a decent job every day. There are good days and bad days, but we keep showing up at the office and getting through the list.
