If you go down B B B Chatterjee Road in Kasba, you’ll find us on the first floor at number 267. Kolkata has its own rhythm, and we’ve been part of it for a while now. The stairs up to the office are a bit steep, so I tell people to take their time. D P Sen Co has been in this building for years. I remember when the tea shop downstairs first opened; now it’s like a local landmark. Inside, the fans are always humming because the humidity can be quite a lot. We have a few old wooden cabinets that have seen better days, but they keep our records safe. There’s no big corporate vibe here. Most of the time, we’re just chatting about the news or getting through the day’s ledger. It’s a quiet life, mostly. The neighborhood is noisy, especially during the festivals, but that’s just Kasba. We don’t really do advertisements or anything. People just know we’re here. Sometimes a neighbor pops in just to say hello or ask for a glass of water. It’s that kind of place. We don’t have a big staff, just a couple of us who know how things work. Every morning starts with a cup of chai and a look at the to-do list. We aren't trying to change the world, just trying to keep the business running smoothly.
