D B Desai Co

Our office is at P 130 Laketown, right here in Kolkata. It’s a decent area, though the traffic near the clock tower can be a real headache some mornings. We have been working out of this space for some time now. Inside, it’s mostly just the sound of keyboards and the occasional phone ringing. We don’t really do much decorating. There are some old calendars on the wall and a few plants that someone forgets to water every other week. The street outside gets busy, especially when the schools let out or during the festive seasons. D B Desai Co is just a small group of us trying to keep things organized. We spend a lot of time looking at spreadsheets and making sure the records are right. It isn’t a high-tech hub with bean bags or coffee machines. We just use the kettle in the back room when we need a break. Sometimes the internet slows down when it rains hard, which happens a lot in West Bengal, so we just sit and talk until it comes back up. It’s a plain sort of life here at the office. We keep the windows shut to keep the dust out, but you can still hear the honking from the main road. It’s just a normal place to work, nothing more than that.
