Curetip Developers Llp is right in the middle of the chaos on Ezra Street. If you have ever been down there, you know it’s a tight squeeze with all the shops and people moving goods around. Our office is at number 48, up on the first floor in Room 104. It’s an old building, the kind where the stairs are a bit uneven and you can hear everything happening in the hallway. We are developers, so we spend our time looking at old structures or bits of land that need work. Kolkata is a tricky place to build anything because of how tight the spaces are, especially in this part of town. We don’t have a big corporate team. It is just a few of us trying to make sense of building codes and site plans. The desks are usually covered in dusty files and half-finished cups of tea. It gets hot in the afternoons, and the ceiling fan makes a clicking noise that we’ve just learned to ignore. We don’t make big promises about changing the world or anything. We just take on a project and try to see it through to the end without too many headaches. It’s a lot of back and forth with contractors and trying to find the right materials at a price that isn't ridiculous. Being on Ezra Street helps with that, I suppose, since everything is right outside the door. Most days are long, but we just take it one step at a time.
