We are based at 422/1 Lake Gardens in Kolkata. Lake Gardens is a very pretty part of the city with a lot of old houses and big green trees lining the streets. Our office is located in one of those older buildings. We work with various traditional crafts from this specific part of the country. It is not a corporate setup with modern cubicles and bright carpets. It feels more like a house where work happens to be going on every day. We have samples of woodwork and different textiles sitting all over the place. Sometimes the rooms feel a bit cramped because we have so many items stored here waiting to be moved. We spend our days talking to the artisans and trying to get their work sent to different places. Kolkata moves at its own special pace, especially in an area like Lake Gardens, and we have adapted to that way of living. We do not have any flashy brochures or a fancy entrance for visitors. People usually find out about us through word of mouth or by just knowing our address from a friend. We handle the paperwork, check the items when they arrive, and try to make sure the craftsmen get paid. It is a lot of manual work and long phone calls. We are not trying to be a massive export house, just a group of people who appreciate the local work.
