Mangal Murti Company

At No. 46 Dum Dum Cossipore Road, Mangal Murti Company has its doors open every day. The building is an older one, and you can see the age in the walls and the high ceilings. We have been working out of this space for quite some time now. Cossipore Road is always humming with the sound of buses and taxis, so it’s never really quiet here. Inside, the space is filled with whatever materials we happen to be trading at the time. It’s organized in a way that makes sense to us, even if it looks a bit cluttered to someone else. We spend a lot of the day on the phone or talking to the drivers who pull up outside. It’s not the kind of place where you’ll find a lot of decorations or comfortable seating. We have a few wooden chairs and a big desk where we handle all the papers. Most of our regulars are people we’ve known for years, so we spend a bit of time catching up while we work. The fan overhead makes a bit of a clicking sound, but it keeps the air moving. When the sun starts to go down, we start packing things up and getting ready for the next morning. It’s a simple routine, and we don’t really try to make it more than it is.
