Century Wire

We are over on N. S. Road, which everyone knows is the place for hardware. Our shop and office are on the second floor, rooms 18 and 19. It’s a bit of a climb up the stairs, especially if you aren't used to these old buildings. The building is 137, and it’s packed with other businesses too. We deal in all kinds of wires. Copper, steel, you name it, we probably have it or can get it for you. The rooms are filled with coils of wire and mesh. It doesn’t leave much space for walking around most days. We’ve been here quite a while now. The walls could use a fresh coat of paint, but we are too busy to worry about that. Customers come in with specific measurements and we cut things to size right there. It’s a lot of manual work and checking the wire gauges carefully. The noise from the street below never really stops with all the cars and vendors. We drink tea from the stall downstairs a few times a day to keep going. It’s a small team, just a few of us handling everything from taking the orders to packing them up. We don't have a website or anything like that, just people coming in because they know the address. Sometimes the bundles of wire are quite heavy and we have to help the loaders get them down the stairs. It’s a simple life, just trading and making sure the counts are right. We try to stay organized but wire is messy.
