Computer Operator

You'll find me at 16 1B Ballygunje Station Road, right in the middle of Ballygunj, Kol 19. I work here as a Computer Operator. It’s a busy part of Kolkata, especially with the train station being so nearby. I can hear the trains passing by all day while I’m typing away at the keyboard. The office is really just a simple room with enough space for my desk and a few spare chairs. I deal with all kinds of digital work, mostly just inputting information and managing various files. It’s a bit dusty inside because of all the traffic outside, but I try to keep the equipment as clean as I can. I’ve lived in Kolkata for a long time, so the chaos of Ballygunj feels completely normal to me now. My day is mostly spent looking at the monitor and clicking through different windows on the screen. I don’t have any fancy mission statement or anything like that. I just do the tasks that are given to me. The chair isn't the most comfortable thing in the world, but it's okay for sitting in for a few hours at a time. I usually grab a quick snack from the local street vendors nearby during my afternoon break. People stop by sometimes to ask about the specific work I do. I just tell them I’m a computer operator and that’s really all there is to it. It’s a straightforward life.
