Our small office is tucked away inside Arjun Enclave on Judges Court Road. It is a busy part of Kolkata, as anyone who lives here knows well. We are up in Flat 4A, 12C. It is not a storefront on the street, so people usually call us before they decide to come by. We spend most of our time looking at blueprints or out at construction sites across the city. Being a developer in a place like this means dealing with a lot of traffic and a mountain of paperwork. We focus on getting buildings up and making sure the plumbing and electricity actually work like they should. It is a lot of coordination between different crews and the city office. Sometimes things get delayed because of the monsoon or just typical city problems, but we keep at it. We are not a giant corporation with hundreds of staff members. It is just a few of us trying to make sure the homes we build are solid and decent. Living and working in Kolkata for so long, we have seen how much the neighborhoods have changed. We just want to contribute something okay to the skyline. Most days involve a lot of tea and long phone calls to various contractors. If you are near Alipore or the court area, you are basically in our neighborhood. We just keep our heads down and do the work that needs doing every single day.
