We are based over at 19 Alipore Road in Kolkata. It’s a well-known part of the city, and the street has these very old trees that give a lot of shade. Chartereds Mj Export Private Limited operates out of a space that feels quite solid and old-fashioned. Alipore is generally a bit more spread out than the crowded business districts, which we really appreciate during the workday. Our daily life involves a lot of coordination and keeping track of various export schedules and shipping dates. We have several large desks piled with folders and some metal cabinets for all our records. The walls could probably use some new paint, but we never seem to find the quiet time to get it done because there is always work to do. We get a fair amount of mail every day, and the local postman knows us quite well by now. Sometimes the traffic on Alipore Road gets really backed up, especially when there are events nearby, but inside our office, it stays mostly steady and quiet. We don't have any fancy mission statements or slogans hanging up. We just come in, do what needs to be done for the day, and then head home to our families. It is a very straightforward way of working. Most of us have been with the company for a long time, so we know the rhythm of the place well.
