Chakrapani Confectioeries

Chakrapani Confectioeries is tucked away in Koumari Apartment on M. M. Goswami Road. If you are looking for us, we are right near the W. C. Sporting Club or the Bani Palace, which are big landmarks in the Khardah area. Our address is a bit of a mouthful, 13/9/1/1, but once you find the apartment building, it’s easy. We make all sorts of sweets and snacks right here. The smell of sugar and frying dough is usually what tells people they are in the right place. We don't have a big fancy storefront with neon lights. It’s more of a traditional setup where we focus on the recipes we've used for a long time. My uncle used to do this and now we are just keeping it going. Some days the humidity makes the sweets hard to set, so we have to be careful with the timing. It’s a lot of manual work, stirring big pots and packing boxes by hand. We get a lot of locals coming by during the festival times. It gets really crowded in the narrow street then. We just try to make enough for everyone who wants some. We don't use any high-tech machines, just our hands and the ovens we have. It’s a simple life but we like being part of the Khardah community and seeing people enjoy what we make. It feels good to see the same faces coming back year after year.
