Centre For Monitoring Indian Economy

Our office is situated at B 22 1 H 4 Bright Street in Kolkata. It is one of those old-fashioned areas where everyone seems to know their neighbors. We do a lot of monitoring of the economy from this little spot. The building has that classic Kolkata feel, with high ceilings and thick walls that keep the noise of the street out a little bit. We started here because it felt like a good place to settle down and focus on the data. There is always a pot of tea going somewhere in the back. We spend our mornings going through the latest updates and seeing what has changed since yesterday. It is not a very big office, so we all sit pretty close to each other. Sometimes it gets a bit crowded when we have a lot of files delivered. Bright Street can be a bit of a maze if you aren't used to it, but we like it here. The local shops nearby are where we usually go for a break. We don't really use much fancy technology other than our computers and the internet connection. Most of our work is just quiet observation and recording what we see happening in the markets. It’s a simple setup but it works for us. We've seen the neighborhood change a lot over the years while we've been sitting here doing our thing with the numbers.
