R N Tagore Road is where you’ll find us, right in Dakshineswar. Kolkata is a city that never really stays quiet, and this area is no exception at all. Being near the temple means there’s always a flow of people and a certain energy in the air that you don't get elsewhere. Our Bsnl office at number 30 is an old building, like many others in this part of town. It has high ceilings and those big windows that don’t always close properly when it rains. We spend our days surrounded by the sounds of the street—the horns, the vendors, and the general chatter of the neighborhood. It’s a bit dusty, and the files are piled up on the desks in no particular order. We aren't here to win any awards for our office decor. We’re just here to make sure the telecommunications for this part of Kolkata stay active and running. The staff knows the local tea shops very well, and that’s where most of the real talk happens during the breaks. We deal with all sorts of people, from students to retirees who have lived here forever. The walk up to the office can be a bit tiring in the summer humidity, but we’re used to it. We don’t have a mission statement on the wall. We just have a list of things to fix and a clock to watch. It’s a very grounded way to work, right in the heart of the local community.
