B.P. Engineering Co.

You can find B.P. Engineering Co. on the first floor of the building at 16, B.R.B. Basu Road. Being on Canning Street means it’s always busy outside, with people shouting and vehicles moving all the time. The stairs leading up to our place are a bit steep and narrow, so you have to watch your step when you're carrying anything heavy. Inside, it’s mostly just shelves filled with tools, drawings, and pieces of metal we’re working on. We’ve been in this spot for a long time, and the walls show it. There’s a certain smell of oil and old paper that stays in the air. We don’t have fancy air conditioning, just a couple of old ceiling fans that whistle while they spin. The light isn't the best in the back rooms, but we’ve got enough lamps where the real work happens. Most of our day is spent looking at blueprints or fixing parts that came in that morning. Sometimes the tea boy from downstairs brings up a tray, and we take a ten-minute break to breathe. It’s not a quiet place by any means, but we’ve gotten used to the noise of the street leaking through the windows. We just stay focused on what’s on the workbench and try to get through the long list of things to do before the sun goes down and we lock up the shutters for the night to go home.
