Bennett Coleman Co Ltd has a spot here at 2 1 Natore Park. We’re near Bondel Gate in the Ballygunj area of Kolkata. It’s an old building and the stairs can be a bit of a climb if you aren't used to it. Inside, it’s mostly just rows of desks and people talking on the phone. We do a lot of the background work for the newspapers and media stuff you see around the city. It’s not a very quiet place, especially when something big is happening in the news. There’s always someone running around looking for a stapler or trying to fix the printer that jammed again. We don't spend much on fancy furniture; we’d rather just have a desk that doesn’t wobble while we work. Working at Natore Park means we’re right in the middle of everything. You can hear the city noise outside all day long. We have a small kitchen where we make tea, and that’s usually where the best gossip happens during breaks. It’s a lot of long hours and staring at computer screens until our heads spin. We don't try to act like we’re saving the world; we’re just making sure the stories get written and the ads get placed correctly. Sometimes things go wrong and we have to scramble to fix it, but that’s just part of the routine. We’re just a bunch of locals doing a job we’ve done for years.
