You can find us at Green Valley, Block E, Flat 201. We’re on the second floor near Kaikhali Chiriamore. Bengal Shrachi Housing Development Ltd is what it says on the door, but really it’s just a small team of us handling property stuff and paperwork. We spend a lot of our time looking at maps and talking to contractors who are usually late. The office in Kaikhali is always full of files and blueprints that never seem to stay organized no matter how much we try. It gets a bit hot in the afternoons, but we keep the windows open and the tea coming. We talk to folks who are looking for a place to stay or people who have problems with their current flats. It isn't always easy dealing with plumbing issues or paperwork for new buildings, but someone has to do it. We don't have a big corporate lobby with a receptionist. You just walk up to the second floor and knock. Most of us have lived in this part of town for years, so we know the streets and the buildings pretty well. We’re not trying to be the biggest company out there. We just want to get the houses built and make sure the roofs don't leak when the rain hits during monsoon. It’s basic work, really. Some days are slow and we just sit around, but other days everyone is running around like crazy.
