Bengal Ambuja

Bengal Ambuja is tucked away in 20 Babu Bagan Lane, which is right in the Dhakuria area of Kolkata. If you know this part of the city, you know that the lanes can be quite narrow and a bit crowded at times, especially when the local markets are in full swing. Our office is a quiet little place compared to the main roads nearby. We have been here at zip code 700031 for a while, and the people working here are mostly local folks who take the bus or walk to work every day. Inside, it is just a bunch of desks and some old cupboards filled with files that have been sitting there for years. We don't have those fancy glass walls or expensive furniture you see in the big corporate buildings downtown. It is more like a home office where everyone knows each other’s names and we share tea from the stall around the corner. The mornings usually start with dusting off the desks and catching up on what happened over the weekend. Sometimes the electricity goes out for a bit, but we just wait it out or work by the windows. It’s a bit cramped when everyone is in at once, but we manage just fine. We like being in Dhakuria because it feels like a real neighborhood where people actually talk to each other instead of just rushing past.
