Bayan Handloom Private Limited

You can find Bayan Handloom over on Barasat Road in Sodepur. We are on the third floor of the 114/A building. It’s a bit of a climb if you aren't used to it. Handloom is what we do, so there’s always that specific smell of yarn and old wood around the place. We are in North 24 Parganas, which is a bit outside the main city center of Kolkata, but it’s a good spot for us. The pace is a little different here. We deal with weavers and people who actually know how to make things by hand. It’s not like those big automated machines you see in movies. There is a lot of back and forth with the workers. Sometimes the colors don't come out exactly how we thought, so we have to adjust. That's just part of working with hand-made stuff. We have our office space where we keep the records and handle the shipping. It’s not very modern-looking, just some desks and a lot of samples hanging up. We drink a lot of tea while we talk about the week's work. The traffic on Barasat Road can be a nightmare in the evenings, so we try to get things packed and ready before the rush. It’s a steady business, and we've been at it for a while now without making a big scene or shouting about it. We just focus on the craft and getting the bundles out to our customers on time.
