D. Chowdhury & Co.

D. Chowdhury & Co. is our little operation over at No. 38 Moiradanga Road in Baranagar. It is a bit of a trek if you are coming from the main part of the city, but we like it here. The building is a simple one, nothing that stands out from the rest of the street. We’ve been in Baranagar for a long time. Inside the office, things are kept pretty informal. We have our desks set up in a way that makes it easy to talk to each other without getting up. There is always a pot of tea on somewhere. We handle a variety of things, and the paperwork can get a bit overwhelming if we don't stay on top of it. The neighborhood is quiet compared to the center of town, which we appreciate. You can actually hear yourself think. We don't have a big corporate structure or anything like that. It’s just a few of us making sure everything runs smoothly. Sometimes we stay late when there is a lot to do, and other days we finish up early if things are slow. We don't have a mission statement or a bunch of slogans. We just show up at Moiradanga Road and do what needs doing. The walls are covered with calendars and notes we’ve scribbled to ourselves over the months. It’s a real working office, not a place meant for showing off to strangers. We’ve built a steady life here at No. 38.
