Our shop is on Sarat Bose Road, at number 16b, right near Lala Lajpat Rai Sarani in Kolkata. We’ve been in this part of the city for quite a while. If you know Kolkata, you know this area is always moving. We sell traditional clothes, things like sarees and fabrics that people use for special occasions or just daily wear. The name Bandhani usually gives away what we specialize in. It’s a small space, often filled with stacks of fabric and the smell of cotton. We don’t have those big glass displays like the malls. It’s more of a traditional shop where you sit and look at the materials. The lights inside are a bit yellow, and it feels like an old-school business. We get all kinds of customers, from grandmothers who have been coming for decades to younger folks looking for something specific. Sometimes we get a bit behind on tidying up because the rolls of fabric are heavy and there’s always someone wanting to see another color. It’s just how it is. Traffic on Sarat Bose Road is a nightmare sometimes, so we appreciate when people make the effort to come in. We don't do much online, we prefer when people can actually feel the cloth.
