Our office is located at 7 Akshoy Dutta Lane in Kolkata. If you know the city, you know these lanes can be pretty tight and full of life. It’s an old part of town with a lot of history in the buildings around us. We work on realty development projects from here, though the space itself is quite modest. There’s no big sign or flashing lights, just our door among the others. Inside, it’s mostly just us surrounded by files, maps of West Bengal, and a couple of computers that have seen better days. The sound of the city is always there in the background—horns honking, people shouting, and the bells of the rickshaws. We get our lunch from the local shops nearby because the food is better there anyway. The stairs up to the office are a bit steep, so we tell people to take their time. We deal with a lot of land documents and construction planning. Kolkata is always changing, and we see a bit of that every day in our work. It’s not a polished environment, just a place where we get the job done. Sometimes the electricity goes out for a bit, but we just wait it out and talk. We’ve been at this address for a while and the neighbors know us. It’s a typical Kolkata workspace where we handle the reality of the realty business.
