Ambuja Cement Eastern

We have been here at C 58 East Rajapur for a good while now. Kolkata is a busy city and this part of it stays pretty noisy with the traffic from the main road. Our day starts early, usually before the sun gets too high, because moving cement bags is heavy work when it's hot. The yard gets a bit messy with all the dust, but that is just part of the job. Most of the people who come by are local contractors or folks just trying to fix up a wall or a floor at home. We don't have any flashy signs or a big, polished lobby. It’s just a practical space where we keep the cement bags stacked high and dry. Sometimes the delivery trucks get stuck in the narrow streets, and we have to wait around for them to navigate the turns. That’s just how things go in this neighborhood. We spend our time talking to drivers and making sure the counts are right. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy from morning to night. My cousin helps out with the paperwork while I look after the loading area and the inventory. It’s not a complicated life. We know the neighbors and they know us. If it rains, everything stops so we can pull the heavy tarps over the bags. You get used to the rhythm of it after a few years. It's just a regular place doing regular work.
