Agarwal & Chatterjee Construction Private Limited is located on the 3rd Lane near the Jadavpur police station, right on 7 Russa Road. It’s a partnership that has been around for a bit, and we just focus on local construction work. The area is always buzzing with students and people going to work, so there is a lot of energy around us every day. Our office is a simple place where we manage all the different projects we have going on at the moment. We have the usual stuff like old desks and a lot of files that probably need to be organized better than they are. It’s just us doing the daily grind of construction planning and site management. We don’t use any of that corporate talk because that’s not who we are. We are just two families or groups coming together to build things in Kolkata. Sometimes we argue over the details of a project, but we always figure it out in the end because the work comes first. The office smells like old paper and sometimes the tea we get from the stall downstairs. We spend a lot of time talking to vendors and making sure we have enough cement or steel for the jobs. It is a lot of practical, everyday work that doesn't get much glory. We just keep our heads down and try to finish what we started. It’s a busy life on Russa Road, but we wouldn’t have it any other way for our small company.
