Clive Row is one of those streets in Kolkata that feels like it’s been there forever. Our office is at 12, B, and we still use P.O. Box-2431 for a lot of our mail. The building has that old-fashioned charm, though the stairs can be a bit steep if you aren't used to them. Inside, it’s mostly just us and our engineering talk. There are blueprints spread out on tables and the smell of old paper everywhere. We’ve been operating from this spot for a long time, and we’ve seen the neighborhood change quite a bit, though some things always stay the same. The tea stall downstairs is still there, and the mail still arrives at the same time every day. We don’t really go in for fancy marketing or big slogans. Most of our work comes from people who have known us for years or who found our address in an old directory. It’s a small operation, and we like it that way. Everyone knows their job, whether it’s answering the phone or checking the specs on a new project. We spend a lot of time double-checking numbers and making sure the orders are right. It’s not glamorous, but it’s what we do. The ceiling fans keep spinning, and we just keep at it, day in and day out, in this little corner of the city. There’s always another pile of drawings to go through.
