Our office is at 255 23 Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Road in Naktala. It’s a very traditional part of Kolkata. We operate here under the names of Abn Amro Bank and Royal Bank of Scotland. The building is right on the main road, so it’s easy to find but also quite noisy with all the buses and rickshaws going past. We’ve got a couple of rooms where we do all our processing. It’s an old-school atmosphere. We have thick ledgers and some computers that have seen better days. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but they’ve seen a lot of work over the years. We spend our days handling various bank-related tasks. It gets quite humid here, especially in the monsoon, so we just do our best to stay cool and keep the papers dry. There is a small tea stall just a few doors down where we get our morning chai. It’s not a corporate headquarters with marble floors. It’s just a place where a few people come to work every day. We know the regular people walking by on NSC Bose Road. It’s a very local feel. We don't try to be something we aren't. We just do the work, keep the records in order, and go home to our families. It’s a steady rhythm that we’ve gotten used to over the seasons. We don't need fancy words to describe what we do; the work speaks for itself.
