Our business, Sachiyay Tex Fab (INDIA) LLP, is right in the heart of Ichalkaranji. People call this place the Manchester of Maharashtra because of all the looms. We are at No. 20/1462 in Hanuman Nagar. It’s a bit of an old area and the property numbers can be confusing. They call it Ward No. 20. If you walk down our street, you’ll hear the sound of machines everywhere. It’s a noisy town but that’s the sound of people working. Our building is a simple structure, property number 203001929. We handle fabrics and textiles, just like most of our neighbors. It’s a place where work starts early and ends late. We don’t have a fancy website or a marketing department. We just have our rolls of cloth and our customers who have known us for years. The Ichalkaranji-Kolhapur area is famous for this work and we are just one small part of it. We deal with the daily issues of power cuts and transport, but that’s just life here. We aren't trying to be fancy. We just want to make sure the fabric we produce is good enough for the people who buy it. It’s a family-like atmosphere in the workshop. Everyone knows their job and we get on with it without much talk. We often sit outside during the lunch break and watch the other textile workers moving their goods around the neighborhood with their handcarts.
