Rajarshi Shahu Textile Foundation

Our foundation is based in Kolhapur, specifically at Gaibee Homes in Shahinath Nagar. It’s not a big corporate building, just a regular flat, number 308, where we handle the administrative side of things for Rajarshi Shahu Textile Foundation. We work out of the space provided by Mujahind Iqbal Kolhapure. It feels more like a home office than a factory. Being in Kagal, we are close to where a lot of the actual textile work happens in this region. We spend a lot of time talking to local weavers and trying to figure out the logistics of the textile trade here. There isn’t a lot of glamour in what we do. It’s mostly phone calls, writing down notes in registers, and meeting people from the neighborhood who are involved in the fabric industry. The area is quiet compared to the big cities, which is nice when you’re trying to focus. We have a few desks and some chairs, and there’s always a stack of documents about textile regulations or local projects sitting on the table. We don't have a big staff, just a few people who care about how textiles are managed in Kolhapur. It’s practical work. We aren't doing this for show. Most days are just spent making sure the foundation stays on track and helps where it can in the local textile community. It is a small operation but we keep busy.
