About Kanekar Kokam Serbat – Food & Beverages in Kolhapur
We have been running Kanekar Kokam Serbat for a while now in Wagade. Our place is right at the post office area in Kanakavali taluka. It started because we have so many kokam trees around here. Most people know us for the red syrup we make. It takes time to get the juice right from the fruit. We don't have a big factory or anything fancy. It's just a small setup at home. My family helps out with the bottling and cleaning. The weather gets really hot in this part of the district, so everyone looks for something cold to drink. We mostly sell to people passing through or locals who need a bottle for their kitchen. It is a quiet life here in the village. Sometimes the power goes out, but we manage. We just try to make enough for the season. If you are near Kanakavali, you might see our sign. People say the taste reminds them of their childhood. We don't change the recipe much. It is just the way we learned it years ago. There isn't much more to tell. We just stay busy with the fruit when it's ready. Dealing with the pulp can be messy. But it's what we do. We hope to keep the shop going as long as we can. It’s a bit of work but we like being here in Wagade. The village life suits us and we don't need much more than this.
