So, we are based out of North Ramfalbil, which is a village in the Dotma area of Kokrajhar. Swmkhwr Mitinga Farmer Producer Company Limited is the name on the papers, but to most people around here, we are just the neighbors. We use the home of Smt. Sanjika Narzary as our main spot to gather and talk about what needs doing. Farming in this part of Assam is never really easy, as the rains can be unpredictable and the sun gets quite hot during the middle of the year. We have a lot of different people involved, and we all just try to share the workload so it’s not too much for one person. Being in a place like Kokrajhar, we are used to just getting on with things. There’s no big strategy or anything, we just meet up, look at what’s growing, and decide what to do next. The village is quiet, and most days you’ll just hear the sounds of the birds or the occasional tractor going by. We aren't trying to be something we’re not. It’s just local farmers coming together to see if we can do better as a group than we can on our own. It took a while to get organized, but we’re managing. Most of our time is spent out in the fields or sitting on the porch at Sanjika's place, sorting through seeds or planning the next planting season. It's a simple way to work.
