Birhang Samridhi Mahila Kisan Producer Company Limited is a bit different because it’s mostly the women from around Gossaigaon running things. We are based in Raja Para and use the Sunshine Clf Office as our home base. Kokrajhar is a place where people work hard, and the women here are no different. We spend our days balancing work in the fields with taking care of our homes. We formed this company to help each other out with our crops and to have a bit more strength when we go to sell what we’ve grown. It’s not always easy, and the office is often crowded with kids and people talking all at once. We don't have a lot of formal training in business, but we know how to grow things and we know the value of a day’s work. We talk about everything from poultry to paddy. It’s a noisy, busy place but it’s also very supportive. We don’t use corporate lingo. We just speak plainly about what we need and how we can get it. Being in Gossaigaon, we have a strong sense of community. We are just a group of women trying to make sure our farms are successful so our families can have a better future. It’s practical, everyday work for us. We gather in Raja Para mostly to figure out the transport for our goods and help each other during the harvest. It is a lot of effort but we enjoy the company.
