The Thirumala Coconut Complex

You can find The Thirumala Coconut Complex over at No 1/12 in the Ph Ward of Alleppey. We are right in the middle of everything in Alappuzha. Being in this part of Kerala means coconuts are a way of life for us. We started this complex because we had the space and the connections with local growers. It’s a noisy place most days with the sound of husking and moving heavy loads around. The floors are usually covered in bits of fiber and shells, but that’s just the nature of the business. We don’t use any fancy technology here. It’s mostly manual labor and old-fashioned techniques that we learned from our elders. The air always smells like salt and fresh coconut meat. Our workers have been with us for a long time, and we all know our roles. Sometimes the back-and-forth with the transporters gets a bit stressful when the weather is bad. Alleppey gets a lot of rain, you know. When the monsoon hits, we have to be extra careful with the stock. We don't spend money on advertisements or big signs. People just know where we are in the Ph Ward. It’s a practical business. We get the coconuts in, we process them, and they go back out. It’s not complicated, but it is tiring. We just focus on getting the work done day by day. Every evening we sweep up the place and start again tomorrow.
