Hotel Saffron

Out here on Lisie Hospital Road in Ernakulam North, things stay busy pretty much around the clock. Hotel Saffron is right in the middle of it. Since we’re so close to the hospital and the North railway station isn’t too far either, there are always people walking by or looking for a spot to stay. It’s a noisy part of Ernakulam, but that’s just how life is in this city. Our building is a simple one. We don’t have those big lobbies you see in the expensive places, just a desk and some rooms upstairs. We spend most of our time cleaning up after the rain or making sure the fans are working in the rooms. It’s a lot of work just staying on top of the humidity here. The staff here are local guys, we just talk to the guests and help them find their way around the Lisie Hospital area if they’re lost. Sometimes the street gets flooded a bit when it pours, but we manage. You’ll see the tea stalls and small eateries right outside our door. It’s a practical place to be if you have business at the hospital or need to catch an early train. We don’t try to be anything we’re not. It’s just a hotel on a busy road where you can sleep and move on the next day. We’ve been here for a bit now and we know the rhythms of the street.
