If you go down Banerji Road in Kacheripady, you'll find us at number 45/89. It’s a busy street, always noise from the traffic. We’ve been running Express Spices from this spot for a good bit of time. It’s not a huge place, just enough room for the stock and a counter. We spend most of our day weighing out bags and chatting with the people who stop by. Some days are slower than others. When the rain starts, we have to move everything back from the door so it doesn't get damp. Spices don't like the humidity much. We handle all sorts of things, mostly common stuff people use every day in their kitchens. It’s just me and a couple of others working here. We don't have a website or anything like that, just the physical shop. Most of our neighbors are shops too, so we all know each other. Sometimes the delivery trucks take forever to find us because of the one-way system on the road. We just do our work and go home. There isn't much to it besides that. The floor is usually covered in a bit of spice dust no matter how much we sweep. It's a living, I guess. We keep the doors open all day to catch a breeze. It’s a bit cramped inside when we get a fresh delivery of black pepper or cinnamon sticks. We just keep our heads down and get the work done.
