Chhatwal Ceramics

Chhatwal Ceramics is based at C-5 in the Industrial Estate on G. T. Road. Being right on the G. T. Road means there’s never a quiet moment with all the trucks and buses passing by our gate. We work with ceramic items, which means a lot of kilns and clay and white dust everywhere. It’s a process that takes a lot of time, and you can’t really rush the firing. We’ve been in this unit for quite some time now. Most of the people working here live nearby in the local area, so it’s a bit like a small community. We don't have a fancy front desk with a receptionist or a lobby. Usually, if you walk in, you’ll just find one of us covered in a bit of dust or checking the temperature on a furnace. We make things that are used in other industries, so it’s not really the "pretty" kind of ceramics, but it’s very useful stuff. We don't spend money on glossy ads or anything like that. We just focus on getting the firing process right every time. Sometimes a batch doesn't come out perfect and we have to start the whole thing over. That’s just the nature of working with clay and heat. We keep a pot of tea going in the back for when we take our breaks. It’s a straightforward life for us. We produce our goods, we pack them up carefully because they can break easily, and we send them out.
