Vikas Educational Institution

Our place is located right in Madhuban 3rd Lane in Puri. If you know the area, we are basically right behind the main bus stand, which makes it easy for people coming in from the outskirts. You can often hear the conductors shouting out destinations while we are trying to get through a lesson. Vikas Educational Institution sounds like a big, formal name, but we are really just a group of people working out of this space. The lane is narrow, so parking is always a bit of a headache, but people manage. Inside, it's pretty plain. We have whiteboards that have seen a lot of ink and chairs that are functional if not exactly comfortable for long stretches. We see a lot of different faces every day. Some stay for an hour, some stay all afternoon. Being so close to the bus stand means we get a lot of dust from the road, so there is always a bit of cleaning to do every morning before the first lot of students arrives. We don't do much in the way of decoration. There are some posters on the walls and maybe a calendar, but that’s about it. Life here is mostly about the books and the exams that everyone is worried about. We just try to provide a quiet enough spot for them to get their work done without too much trouble.
