Swyambhu Farmers Producer Company

Swyambhu Farmers Producer Company is what we call ourselves. We are set up in Satyabadi Nagar, specifically in Ward Number 10. The area is Chhatapipal and the spot is Kundamal. It’s a busy little corner of the world in its own way. We started this whole thing to get the local farmers organized and working together. It isn't a corporate setup with glass walls or shiny floors. It is more of a practical space where people meet up and talk about their crops and the prices for the season. Satyabadi Nagar is a place with a lot of history and I guess we are just adding our small bit to it now. Finding the place isn't too hard once you get into the ward. You just ask for the Swyambhu office near Kundamal. We don't spend much on decorations or things like that because there is real work to do. The weather gets pretty hot here during the summer months, so the office is a good place to hide from the sun for a bit while we work. We keep our records and meet with people right here in Chhatapipal. The area has changed a bit over the years, but the farming stays mostly the same. Most of us grew up around here, so we know the land and we know the people. It’s just a group of us trying to keep things moving forward for the farmers in the community. No big speeches, just the daily grind of running things in the ward.
