Out here in Khamar, Pallahada, things move a bit slower than in the big towns. Malyagiri Fed Farmers Producer Company Limited is based at Plot No.672/2284 in Kunjam. It’s a quiet spot, really. We spend most of our time out in the fields, so the office doesn’t see as much action as the dirt tracks do. It’s basically just a group of us from around the village who decided to put our heads together. Farming is tough work, and doing it by yourself is even tougher. We deal with the same problems everyone else does, like the heat and the bugs. We aren't trying to be some big corporation. We just want to make sure we can get our crops to where they need to go without losing too much money. You can usually find someone around the plot if you need to talk, but mostly we are busy with the day-to-day stuff. The name sounds a bit official, but we’re just the same people you see at the market every week. We’ve got some old desks and a lot of notebooks filled with lists and numbers. It gets pretty cramped when everyone shows up at once to settle their accounts. There’s always someone complaining about the weather or the price of diesel. That’s just part of the job, I guess. We take things one day at a time and try to help each other out when the work gets too heavy for one person.
