Kothabad Farmers Producer Company Limited is based in the village of Kothabad, which falls under the Dandamukundapur area in Pipili. Our address is Plot No 46, and it’s right in the heart of the Puri district. Most people know Pipili for the colorful applique work, but we are more focused on what is happening in the fields. We are a collective of farmers from this local area who wanted to have more control over our produce. The office is just a plain room where we keep our files and meet up once a week to talk about the crops. There is nothing fancy about it, just a few chairs and a table. We spend most of our time out in the sun or at the local markets checking out the competition. It is a tough way to make a living sometimes, but being part of a producer company helps us stay organized. We don't have any marketing experts telling us what to say, so we just talk like we always have. We know our neighbors and we know the land we work on. When the harvest comes, everyone is busy and there isn't much time for anything else. We try to help the younger farmers understand how the system works so they don't get lost in the shuffle. It is just about keeping the tradition of farming alive while trying to make it a bit more modern where it counts.
