Jagannath Tutorials is situated down Old Sadar Thana Lane, right in the Nuagada Basti area. It’s a lively neighborhood and we’ve been part of it for a long time. The center is basically a few rooms in a house where we gather to study. We don’t have any fancy signs or big glass windows. It’s just a humble place for students to come and get some extra help after their school is done for the day. Most of the kids live right around the corner, so they just walk over after their chores are finished. We cover the main subjects for school-level students. It gets quite busy in the evenings. I usually start the day by cleaning the boards and setting the benches straight. It isn't a corporate setup at all. We treat everyone like family because we’ve known most of these families for many years. Sometimes the power goes out, and we just light a few candles or use torches to finish the lesson. Nobody complains much about it. We just want the kids to do okay in their tests. We don't promise anything grand to anyone. We just sit together and go through the textbooks page by page. It’s a lot of reading and writing. The air can get a bit stuffy when the room is full of students, but we have a couple of fans that do their best. It’s just a normal part of life here in Puri.
