Gopalaxmi Women Farmer Producer Company Limited is based in Bhingarpur Village. That’s in the Balianta area of Khorda, Orissa. Our house number is 122. This is a group run by women who know what it’s like to work the fields. We started this because we wanted a way to manage our own crops and sales together. Life in the village is busy. We have the house work and the field work to do. But we make time for the company because it’s important. We aren't a big business with a lot of money. We just have our land and our hands. Orissa has many villages like ours, but this one is home. We just keep working and hope for a good rain. Every year is a new challenge but we handle it together.
