Balugaon College

Balugaon College is a simple place located in the Khurda district. Being in Balugaon, we are close to the life of the town, and the college acts as a hub for the local students who live nearby. It’s an old building with high ceilings and wide corridors that stay relatively cool even when the Odisha heat is at its worst. We don't have any high-tech gadgets or modern art on the walls. It’s mostly just rows of benches, blackboards, and a lot of paper records stacked in the office. The staff here have been around for a long time and they know the families of many of the students who attend. During the rainy season, the roof sometimes leaks in the corner of the staff room, but we put a bucket under it and carry on with the work. The campus is a bit overgrown with grass in some spots, but it gives it a natural feel that suits the area. Students usually gather under the big trees to talk or share their lunch. It’s not a fancy institution by any means, but it’s where the local kids come to get their higher education without having to travel all the way to a big city. We just try to keep the doors open and the classes running on time. There is always a stray dog or two sleeping in the shade of the porch.
