Aruhafarmer Producer Company Limited is located in Chandan Pur village, right in the heart of Basudevpur. We use Radha Raman Panigrahi’s house as our base for all our activities. Radha Raman is the son of Sarat Chpanigrahi, and most people around here know the family and their history. We aren’t a huge company with offices and desks and secretaries. It’s more of a community thing where everyone has a say. We get together to talk about what we’re planting and how to get things to the market without losing our shirts. Farming in Basudevpur is what we’ve always known. It’s hard on the back and doesn't always pay great, but it’s our life and we are proud of it. We decided to call ourselves a producer company mainly so we could help each other out with seeds and other supplies. You’ll usually find someone at the house drinking tea and talking about the crops. We don’t have a lot of polished stories to tell. It’s just everyday work, dealing with the mud and the heat. Sometimes the crops are good, and sometimes they aren’t, but we keep going regardless of the outcome. We don’t really do much in the way of advertising because everyone knows who we are already. We’re just trying to make the farming business a little easier for the folks in Chandan Pur. It’s honest work, and we don’t pretend it’s anything other than what it is. It's just neighbors helping neighbors.
