Mohanthal

The shop is tucked into the Gravity Complex, specifically at number 203. Being right across from Amba Ashram means we get a lot of foot traffic from people visiting there, and since J & J College of Science is close by, we see plenty of students too. Nadiad is a place where people appreciate a good snack, and that’s what we do. We named the place Mohanthal because that's what we know best. The kitchen in the back is where most of the work happens. It gets quite hot when the big pots are going, but that's part of the job. We start early in the morning, getting the mixtures ready. It’s a small space, so we have to be organized or we’d be tripping over each other. The counters are usually full by mid-morning. We don't use a lot of technology here; it's mostly just us weighing things out and wrapping them up in paper or boxes. The students come in looking for something quick between their classes, and the older folks come by after their visits to the ashram. It’s a simple cycle. We don't have fancy decorations on the walls. We just have the shelves and the containers. Sometimes we run out of things earlier than expected, and we just have to tell people to come back tomorrow. That's life in a small shop. We try to keep the glass cases clean, but there’s always a smudge from someone pointing at the sweets.
