If you go to Village Mangrul and look for number 744, that’s where you’ll find Khargone Farmer Producer Company. It’s a simple setup. We are just a bunch of guys who grow crops and decided to form a collective. Khargone is our home, and Mangrul is where the heart of it is. We don't have a big staff. It’s mostly just us and our families. We spend our days out in the sun, then come back to the office to handle the numbers. The office is just a room with some files and a place to sit. We talk about the cotton or the wheat, depending on the season. Sometimes the roads to Mangrul get washed out during the rains, which makes things difficult. We have to plan around that. We aren't looking to become some huge corporation. We just want to make sure the farmers in our village get a fair shake. It’s a lot of manual labor and a lot of waiting. We trust each other because we’ve lived next to each other for years. We share the equipment and the knowledge we have. It’s a basic way of living, but it works for us. We don't need fancy words to describe it. We just farm and we sell, and we try to do it better together. Every day brings a new challenge but that is farming for you.
