We are located in Ramakrishna Puram West, right near the City Union Bank. It’s a good landmark because everyone knows where the bank is. We do both garments and the labels that go on them. It’s a bit of a specialized setup because you need different machines for the small labels than you do for the actual clothes. The shop isn’t very big, but we’ve managed to fit everything in. Sometimes it feels like we’re tripping over rolls of tape or stacks of shirts. People often stop by just because they saw us while they were going to the bank. We’ve got a couple of ceiling fans that squeak a bit, but they keep us cool enough. It’s a noisy neighborhood with all the people coming and going from the shops nearby. We don’t really have a front desk or anything formal. You just walk in and one of us will look up from whatever we’re cutting or sewing. It’s a very hands-on kind of place. We spend a lot of time double-checking the spelling on the labels because once they’re printed, you can’t really fix them. We aren’t trying to be the biggest place in town, just a reliable one that stays open six days a week. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy from morning until the sun goes down. Most of the time we just listen to the radio while we work.
