Fashion Fab

You can find us at No. 6 on the 12th Cross in Kamarajapuram. We call ourselves Fashion Fab, though mostly we’re just known as the shop on the corner. It’s a small place where we do a lot of sewing and garment work. There are always scraps of thread on the floor, no matter how much we try to keep it clean. We have a few machines that have been with us for years, and they still run better than the new ones sometimes. The 12th Cross is a narrow street, so it’s mostly just people walking by or neighbors stopping in to see what we’re working on. We don't do much in the way of advertising. Usually, someone brings a piece of clothing in, and we see what we can do with it. It’s a lot of close-up work, and it can be hard on the eyes after a few hours. We drink a lot of tea to keep ourselves going through the afternoon. It’s not a fancy boutique with mirrors everywhere. It’s just a practical space where we get the sewing done. Sometimes we stay late when there’s a big order to finish, but that’s just the nature of the business. We like the neighborhood and the people here. It’s a good place to be. We just keep our heads down and focus on the needles and the fabric until the job is done.
