Ushodaya High School

Living in Godavarikhani means dealing with a bit of dust and heat, and Ushodaya High School is right in the middle of it in Rameshnagar. We have been operating out of this building for a long time now. You can see the wear on the stairs where thousands of feet have climbed up to the classrooms over the years. It isn’t a shiny new place, but it is sturdy and reliable. The teachers here have been with us for ages and they know most of the families by name. Morning assembly is when you really see how many kids we have; they all line up in the courtyard and it is quite a sight. We do not have fancy sports fields, just a bit of open space where they play kabaddi or tag during recess. The bells are still rung by hand, and that sound pretty much dictates our whole day. Sometimes the air from the nearby industrial areas feels heavy, but we just keep the doors closed and carry on with the lessons. Parents in Rameshnagar are hardworking people, and they expect their kids to study hard too. We try our best to keep up with that expectation. There is no big corporate office behind us. It is just us teachers and the principal making sure everything runs okay. It is a straightforward school for local families who want their kids to get a decent education close to home.
