We have been running things at Shop No 9 in Chadha Market for quite a while now. If you know Phagwara, you know it’s right there opposite the main bus stand, which makes it a very busy area. There are always people hopping off buses or waiting for their next ride, so we get a lot of folks just peering in the window or coming in to ask for directions. The office is pretty basic, honestly. We have some old desks and a few chairs that have seen better days, but they do the job. My day usually starts with opening up the shutters and letting some air in, though with the bus stand right there, it’s mostly just exhaust fumes and the sound of horns. We handle all sorts of travel bookings here. It’s not just big trips; sometimes it is just helping someone get a ticket to the next town. I spend a lot of time staring at the computer screen trying to find the right routes. The internet can be a bit temperamental sometimes, which is frustrating when someone is in a hurry. We don’t have a fancy waiting room or anything like that. People just sit and chat while we work. It’s a very local feel. We know the other shop owners in Chadha Market, and we often share tea in the afternoons. It’s just a regular business doing regular work for the people of Phagwara.
