Jajmau is where the leather trade really lives, and Sheetla Bazar is right in the thick of it. Our place is at 4-B. The street is narrow, and you have to be careful not to get clipped by a passing motorbike or a cart. It’s a dusty, noisy, and vibrant part of town. Our office isn't anything special to look at. It’s a functional space where we handle all our export business. We spend a lot of time checking quality and making sure the packing is done correctly for shipping. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, and the furniture is definitely from another era. We don't really care about that, though. What matters is that we get the work done. There’s a small group of us here, and we’ve become like a family over the years. We know the local shopkeepers and the guys who move the freight. Lunch is usually a simple affair, sometimes ordered from a nearby stall. In the summer, the heat in the bazaar can be pretty intense, but we have our fans going full blast. We do a lot of business over the phone and through piles of paperwork. It’s a very hands-on way of working. We aren't a corporate giant; we’re just a local outfit that knows the leather export business inside and out. It’s how we have always operated.
